7A Pre-Algebra and Grade 7 Math: 2016-2017
Mrs. Costantino, Room 225
Welcome!
Welcome to seventh grade Math class! I am very excited to have you in class. I am sure this year will prove to be a successful one! Here are a few important details about my class that will ensure success.
Class Rules
1) Be prepared - come to school with 3 pencils and a sharpener,
bring a notebook and folder/binder, and homework done!
2) Raise your hand before speaking
3) Attempt every question and SHOW WORK!
No Work, No Credit!
There are no retakes for quizzes or tests.
Grading Policy:
Tests 40%
Quizzes 30%
Homework 15%
Classwork 15%
Homework Policy:
Homework is assigned on a nightly basis (every night). Students must show work for credit, incomplete homework is not given credit (however, a student may earn 1/2 credit by turning it in after school.) Agenda will be stamped "incomplete" on the day of the incomplete assignment.
Homework is posted at http://prealgebra225.weebley.com
Absences:
It is the student's responsibility to obtain and complete work they have missed while absent. Students have the number of days absent plus one to make up the work, students should make arrangements to stay after school to complete any quizzes or tests and to receive any clarification on material.
Directions To Sign On to E Book To Be Announced:
Classroom rules:
-In addition to the school rules outlined in the student handbook the following are
expected of everyone.:
-Treat all people with respect, (respect is showing consideration in your interactions with others)
and appreciating everyone’s contributions. (please do not interrupt anyone while they are talking; do not make a comment that would deliberately hurt or make someone feel uncomfortable.)
-Be prepared: students should be mentally ready to learn and be equipped with appropriate
school supplies.
What are the consequences for not following the rules?
Consequences depend on the type and severity of the incident and the number of times the student has been disrespectful or unprepared in the past. Consequences for not following the rules include:
-verbal correction and student apology/reparation
-temporary exclusion from class/group activity
-temporary or permanent classroom seat change
-after school session (30 minutes)
-phone call to parent/guardian
-referral to principal
What are the classroom procedures?
At the beginning of each class students should get their books or other materials listed
on the board; sit in their assigned seat; take out their homework; write new homework in agenda; and begin working on opener.
If students do not have their homework they should open the agenda so the “incomplete assignment” can be noted.
Students who were absent should confirm missing assignments with the teacher (at the end or after class) and make a plan to complete as soon as possible. It is the student’s responsibility to obtain, complete and show the completed assignment to the teacher after school.
Students have number of days absent plus one to make up work.
Students can not go to their lockers during class.
Gum chewing is not allowed in class.
GUM CHEWING = AFTER SCHOOL SESSION
Students should raise their hands and wait to be called on. (exceptions would be for getting a tissue,
or sharpening a pencil during independent work time)
